Medical ID bracelets & necklaces for diabetes

A diabetes medical ID tells first responders what is happening when low or high blood sugar leaves you confused, drowsy or unable to speak. Engraved in our Florida studio, with free personalization.

Why people with diabetes wear a medical ID

Severe low blood sugar can look like a stroke, a seizure or being drunk. Without knowing about your diabetes, responders lose time ruling things out, or may not check your glucose first.

A medical ID is the first thing paramedics look for on your wrist or neck. A few engraved lines tell them to check your sugar, that you use insulin, and who to call. The medical symbol alone is not enough: it means "read me", not "diabetes".

What to include

  • Your name
  • Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes (or "Insulin Dependent")
  • Insulin pump or CGM, if you use one
  • Any drug allergy, like "Allergy: Sulfa"
  • An emergency contact with phone number (ICE)

Engraving examples

Each line holds about 20 characters on most of our pieces. Put the condition near the top so it is read first.

Type 1 with pump

Type 2 on insulin
Adds a drug allergy
For kids
Short wording for a smaller tag

Diabetes medical IDs

Pieces our customers with diabetes wear every day. Every one is engraved with your own text at no extra cost.

Choosing the right piece

  • Wearing a smartwatch? A tag that slides onto your band keeps your ID on without adding a bracelet.
  • Active or swimming often: silicone and sport bands handle sweat and water best.
  • For kids, choose a bright band they like so it stays on all day.
  • Want more detail than fits on a tag? Add a wallet card with your doses and doctor's contact.

Questions

Should I write Type 1 or Type 2?

Yes. Responders treat both differently, so the type is more useful than just "Diabetic". If you use insulin, say so too.

Do I need a medical ID if I wear a CGM or insulin pump?

Yes. Devices can be hidden under clothes, and responders may not know what they are. Engrave "Insulin Pump" or "CGM" so they look for it.

Is the red medical symbol enough?

No. The symbol only tells responders to read your ID. The engraved words are what tell them you have diabetes.
